You leave the physiotherapist with a sheet of exercises. You go to the gym and follow a plan that has never heard of that sheet. The same shoulder your physio is protecting gets loaded by a programme written for somebody else. Nobody did anything wrong; the two simply never meet. This article looks at why a physiotherapy exercise program on paper so rarely reaches your gym plan, and what GymAI is building to join them.
Where the gap causes trouble
- The sheet gets lost, folded in a bag, or forgotten after the first week.
- Your trainer cannot see what the physio asked you to avoid or to do.
- The physio cannot see whether you did the exercises, or what else you lifted that week.
The underlying problem is that your gym, your trainer, your physio and your dietitian do not talk to each other. The trainer sends a PDF written once, the physio hands over a sheet of paper nobody at the gym sees, and the gym app opens the door and knows nothing about your training.
Why existing apps do not fix it
We checked 41 competitors product by product. Gym apps carry nothing on rehabilitation, posture, water or adapted work. Clinical platforms never leave the clinic. Not one covers more than two of the eight areas of training that GymAI’s catalogue is organised into.
A physiotherapy exercise program in the same place as your training
In GymAI, a verified physiotherapist will be able to enrol a patient and write the actual table: days, exercises and intensities. That prescription will live in the same app as the rest of the person’s training, so the plan does not have to guess.
Verified registration will be the only thing that reaches the prescription-only part of the catalogue. Some exercises reach a person only because a verified professional named them. What the patient writes stays the patient’s; what the physio writes is on the record.
Access is the patient’s decision. A professional sees what the patient hands over, for as long as it stays handed over, and the patient can withdraw it. Pain history is sealed with a key only the patient holds, so nobody at GymAI or at the gym can read it.
The physiotherapist side is specified and not built yet. The catalogue it will prescribe from already includes 1,131 rehabilitation and clinical exercises, covering 160 named conditions.
Clinics and recovery centres
Clinics and recovery centres can request early access. A clinic works like a physio at the scale of a centre: named verified professionals prescribe, and a clinic prescribes nothing on its own. The platform does not store clinical data; clinics prescribe exercises, nothing more.
Frequently asked questions
Can my physio use GymAI today?
Not yet. GymAI is not open, and the physiotherapist side is specified but not built.
Will my gym see my physio’s notes?
A gym account holds no members and no health data. Professionals see only what you hand them, for as long as you leave it handed over.
