A gym listing tells people where to go and what they will find. That makes it worth protecting. When you claim your gym listing on GymAI, remember that nobody is given a gym by asking for it: a claim has to be proved, and then a person checks it.
Before you start
Have two things ready: your gym’s website address, and access to a mailbox at that website’s domain. You will also need the free gym account itself. Its address is confirmed with an eight-character code, valid for 24 hours with five tries, and accounts that are never confirmed are deleted after seven days, so finish that step when you start.
How to claim your gym listing: the steps
- Search for your gym under Start here — is your gym already listed? If it is listed, choose This is us.
- Give your gym’s website and an email address at that website’s domain.
- Type back the eight-character code we send. It works once, for 24 hours, with five tries.
- A person reviews the claim, usually within a few days.
Why a domain email, and not Gmail
Anybody can open a free mailbox with your gym’s name in it. Very few people can read mail at your website’s own domain. That is why free email providers never count. Even so, we do not call a proved claim a verified owner: an email proves control of a domain, not ownership of a building, and the wording says exactly that.
Why a person checks every claim
A code shows that you can read mail at a domain. It does not show, on its own, that the right gym was picked on the map, or that the website belongs to that gym. So a person looks at each claim before it goes through. It is slower than an automatic approval, and that is deliberate: a listing that changes hands by mistake is much harder to put right than one that waited a few days.
And if somebody claims your gym later
The current keeper is emailed and has 14 calendar days to object with I object — this is still my gym. An objection sent after those days still counts until a person decides. A record never changes hands on a date alone. More detail in our guide to the free gym account.
After the claim
Correct the machines, the services and the pin on your door. From then on, what your gym publishes outranks what people who train there contributed. When nothing has changed, All of it is still right dates the record in one press. Any change to the account needs a second factor, an authenticator app or two passkeys, so the listing you proved stays yours.
